College of Licensed Practical Nurses of BC
The College of Licensed Practical Nurses of BC (CLPNBC) establishes, monitors, and enforces standards of practice within the nursing profession in BC. It was established in 1996 when the Council of LPNs in BC was designated under the Health Professions Act. CLPNBC is now recognized as a professional regulatory organization, and its registrants as health-care professionals.
CLPNBC will only investigate concerns regarding a registrant’s professional misconduct, incompetence, or fitness to practise. Complaints regarding an LPN’s professional conduct, competency, or fitness to practise may be submitted by:
- Individuals who were directly or indirectly affected by an LPN’s practice
- Third parties, such as employers, other registrants, other regulated professionals, or the relative of a client
- The inquiry committee may independently initiate a complaint under certain circumstances
