About
WorkSafeBC promotes workplace health and safety in BC by partnering with employers and workers and monitoring compliance with the Occupational Health and Safety Regulation. It provides compensation for injured workers and supports them in their recovery, rehabilitation, and safe return to work.
It makes decisions regarding claims for work-related injuries and disease, assessments for employers, and the enforcement of the Occupational Health and Safety Regulation. It is an independent agency funded by insurance premiums paid by employers and accountable to the public through government and its work is directed by the Workers Compensation Act.
The first level of appeal of a decision is internal, involving a review by a Review Officer in the Review Division. The second level of appeal is to the independent Workers' Compensation Appeal Tribunal .
