Tribunales de derechos y beneficios

Algunos tribunales toman decisiones sobre sus derechos y beneficios.

Por ejemplo, el Consejo de inmigración y refugiados (Immigration and Refugee Board) toma decisiones acerca de quién puede vivir en Canadá. Ese consejo considera la ley y toma una decisión sobre el derecho del solicitante de permanecer en Canadá. Otros tribunales toman decisiones sobre los beneficios a los que las personas tienen derecho. Por ejemplo, el Tribunal de apelaciones de empleo y asistencia (Employment and Assistance Appeal Tribunal) tomaría una decisión acerca de si usted tiene derecho a la asistencia de ingresos.

CPP and OAS: Office of the Commissioner CPP/OAS Review Tribunals

Hears appeals from decisions regarding the Canada Pension Plan, Old Age Security, Social Security Agreements, and claims that the legislation is discriminatory under the Charter of Rights and Freedoms.

Provincial

Mental disorders (criminal cases): BC Review Board

Reviews decisions about people who have been charged with offences under the Criminal Code in respect of whom verdicts of “not criminally responsible on account of mental disorder or unfit to stand trial on account of mental disorder”, have been rendered.

Mental health: Mental Health Review Board

Conducts hearings under the BC Mental Health Act.
